Welcome to a Different Kind of Music Studio
This is more than just a place to learn violin or viola.
It’s a space where music meets imagination, curiosity is encouraged, and community is key.
Whether you’re just beginning your journey or returning to music after years away, I work with students who are drawn to creative exploration, personal growth, and a sense of belonging in their musical life. I believe that technique should serve expression, and that joy, not pressure, is the heart of lasting progress.
What Makes This Studio Unique?
Improvisation & Creative Play
From string quartets that experiment with improvisation to group classes that include storytelling and games, this is a space where music isn’t just practiced; it’s created. I welcome curious minds ready to explore outside the traditional box.
Retreats & Restorative Experiences
I’m building toward hosting creative retreats for musicians to reconnect with their artistry…through movement, mindfulness, collaboration, and non-judgmental music making. These will be open to teachers, professionals, and adult students who need to recharge.
Intentional Learning for All Ages
You won’t find cookie-cutter lessons here. I work with motivated students (kids and adults) who are ready to think deeply, play freely, and engage fully. My lessons often include practice games, silly challenges, and moments of musical storytelling to make learning meaningful and memorable.
Who This Studio Is For:
-
Suzuki violin and viola students (Book 1–7+), especially those who value creative thinking
-
Adult learners ready to reconnect with music in a low-pressure, supportive environment
-
Musicians interested in improvisation, ensemble work, and unique performance opportunities
-
Families who believe that music should be joyful, sustainable, and human-centered
-
Students who resonate with a teacher who blends structure with spaciousness, humor, and care
Music as Medicine. Nature as Refuge. Expression without Judgment.
If this sounds like the kind of musical home you’re looking for, I’d love to connect.
Let’s make something beautiful together.

Julie-
Thanks so much for getting back to me! I was on the stage crew staff in the 70’s and at the academy in ’77 on staff there. I retired from WDW in 2019 as Senior Music Producer. We’re at our second home in Interlochen and I am trying to connect with other ICA alums in Central Florida. It is an amazing place. What was your focus while here? We love it so much we built this house almost 20 years ago and are able to spend a lot more time here enjoying concerts. Gotta run to dinner but will follow up later.
Sound the Call!

I want to begin taking violin lessons. Am I crazy? I’m 64. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and kept putting off. Too busy.

It’s wonderful that you’re thinking about starting music lessons! Learning music as an adult brings so many benefits, like mental stimulation, stress relief, and a new creative outlet that can enrich your daily life. Plus, learning an instrument at any age has been shown to improve memory, cognitive skills, and even emotional well-being.
